Teatro Oriente

The Oriente Theater is part of the cultural offer that the Providencia Cultural Foundation makes available to the community. Its objective is to generate high-level cultural activities for all audiences. Our motivation is to contribute from our experience to the artistic work of the commune, as well as of the inhabitants of the metropolitan region.

Initially called the Olympo Theater, this Beaux Arts-style building was built in the 1930s by the architects Carlos Cruz Eyzaguirre and Escipión Munizaga Suárez (twice a candidate for the National Architecture Award), as a commission from the Bank's Provident and Stimulus Fund. From Chile. Both were also authors of the Mercado Providencia, the Embassy of France and the missing mansion of Juana Edwards de Gandarillas.
